CII Strategic
Planning Committee Chairman - Stephen Cabano,
President of Pathfinder, was selected to co-chair the
CII Strategic Planning Committee along with Ilker
Adiguzel, Lab Director, U.S. Army Engineer Research
Development Center. The Strategic Planning Committee
is responsible to the Board of Advisors, through the
Executive Committee, for the development, evaluation,
and update of the CII Strategic Plan, which is to be
written with a three-year life cycle. The committee
monitors industry trends and business drivers and
updates the Strategic Plan. The Strategic Planning
Committee establishes performance measures and reports
results to the Board of Advisors annually.
CII/COAA Research
Team 272 - Jim Blevins of Pathfinder is a member
of the CII/COAA Work Face Planning Committee. The
team’s charter is to research and evaluate the best
models (innovative approaches), tools, and best
practices for work packaging to improve productivity
and what is a better/best work packaging model.
Mega Projects in
Alberta - EPC Panel - PMI-SAC Annual Meeting -
Pathfinder’s Scott Diehl facilitated the EPC Panel
Discussion with about 70 people in attendance. Topics
from this meeting will be discussed on the PMI-SAC EPC
Roundtable LinkedIn site. If you would like to join in

Doing Business in the Oil Sands Region - In
October, Pathfinder’s Paul Williams, along with
Elliot Levin,
presented this topic to
over 30 companies involved at various levels of the
Oil Sands region at the World Trade Center Conference
in Philadelphia, PA. Paul’s presentation focused on
the nuances of doing business as a small company in

Industry Trade
Advisory Committee Meeting (ITAC) and US-EU SME Best
Practices Workshop - Elliot Levin, Vice President,
has been participating as Pathfinder’s delegate with
the U.S. Department of Commerce and U.S. Trade
Representative Export and Trade Advisory Committees.
Elliot attended the latest meeting in Washington, DC
in October in which US an EU small business problems
were shared.
CHOA (Canadian
Heavy Oil Association) Conference - In November,
Scott Diehl, Executive Associate, attended the annual
conference in Calgary. The conference had 600
attendees and there were representatives from many of
the heavy oil producers active in Alberta.
Presentations were focused on the Canadian oil sands
region pertaining to global attention, economics,
skilled labor challenges, consumption and project
execution methods.
Hart Energy DUG Conference - Mark Christopher,
Associate, attended the DUG East (Developing
Unconventional Gas) Conference in Pittsburgh in
November, which focused on addressing the concerns and
opportunities of drilling in the Marcellus Shale. Many
of the producer companies that spoke highlighted their
amount of leased land in the Marcellus region and
potential CAPEX to develop the infrastructure for the
Natural Gas extraction and midstream services.
Toys for
Tots -
Pathfinder participated in the Marine Toys for Tots
campaign this year. In just over a couple of weeks,
Pathfinder employees generously donated over 30 toys
and presented them to U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Rep
for Camden County Coordinator, Desmond Newbill. Mr.
Newbill shared with us that they normally have about
400 families that request toys and this year they have
over 800.
